Saturday, November 17, 2012

Here are some shots I took from around New York City this summer. I just NOW found them and decided to post. This really makes me miss the city and motivates me to go back next summer.

THANKSGIVING MORPHINE

Friday, November 16, 2012

This entire week, it has been indescribably hard not to think of Friday. Friday is, not only the throw-your-mocking-school-papers-in-the-air day of the week, but also the beginning of Thanksgiving Break. My T-Givings usually consist of me and my family escaping to a city to view Broadway musicals, cut our turkey "metaphorically," while lazily dinning out for The Big Meal, and trying to force my bitter puppy to relieve herself on a 2 x 2 piece of grass in increment of two hours. This year, unfortunately, I will be tripping on morphine, watching White Collar and applying for internships from the warmth of my couch due to the removal of my wisdom teeth. Sadly, this will all be happening sans puppy (my sister is an evil dog stealer.)

I think this is one of my favorite shoot locations thus far. These pictures capture the perfect moment in the fall weather. Layers of orange, red and brown, peeling paint and fallen leaves truly represent the beauty of autumn.  BONUS: Featured in the background, is the building that I have called home for the past three years and have built some of the best memories at college in.

DIRTY LITTLE LUSTS: OXFORDS

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

While oxfords may be the definition of "the classic shoe," falling in and out of trend over the years, there is always room to bring a modern twist to any fad. This winter, we are seeing not just the abundance of oxfords on the market, but an increase in crazy, colored, patterned and dotted versions of the shoe. I admit, my first pair of oxfords was a freeing one, almost like going from flared jeans to skinnies. (At 5'9 in eighth grade, I had finally realized the hard way what 'flooding' meant.) This winter, throw out those ballet flats that always give you blisters and fill your closet with functional, stylish, and above all, CRAZY oxfords.

HOW TO WEAR OXFORDS:

LOOK ONE - CASUAL: Keep the palette simple with a slouchy t-shirt and a pair of leather pants. Throw on a chunky necklace for added spunk. Donning all black suits the cold winter and is by far one of the sleekest looks to pull off. For the oxfords, keep the theme of neutral and all black or go for a bright POP of color to counter act the dark outfit.

LOOK TWO - BUSINESS: Who said business couldn't still be a party? Bring your own flair and individuality by pairing a crazy patterned skirt with a delicate lace top. Throw in an equally contrasting chunky necklace with an added feminine bow to tie the look together. As for the shoes, go all out. The amazing light purple print oxfords scream class and add just the right touch of sophistication.

LOOK THREE - PARTY: A marbled nude dress with a classic silhouette warrants a classic shoe. With a dress so busy, stick to earrings instead of a necklace. For the footsies, try a metallic finish or a pop of color. The metallic gives a more dolled up vibe to the look.

THE FIRST WEATHER CHANGE

Monday, November 12, 2012

It is finally starting to get cold outside. This means homeless hats, layers and pants on pants on pants. I have always faced challenges in the winter, trying to dress according to the weather, but also according to style. This break, I hope to beat the challenge and really stay stylish as well as WARM. We all know how much of an infant I am when it comes to my body heat. Today I opted for my Cheap Monday hand painted jeans paired with my NEW high-heeled wedges. I am starting off the week well and getting into the habit of DOING SCHOOL WORK EVERY NIGHT. It has been a bit of a lackluster semester.
